Storting’s Presidium on official visit to Finland
The Storting’s Presidium has been on an official visit and study trip to Finland from 26th to 28th September. The visit was prompted by an invitation from Matti Vanhanen, the Speaker of the Eduskunta (Parliament of Finland).
“Our two parliaments enjoy a close relationship, and Finnish and Norwegian MPs meet regularly within a Nordic context. The visit will help to reinforce the parliamentary ties with a good partner in the Nordic region,” said President of the Storting Gharahkhani before the trip.
All six members of the Storting’s Presidium were present on the trip. In addition to Mr Gharahkhani, Svein Harberg, First Vice President; Nils T. Bjørke, Second Vice President; Morten Wold, Third Vice President; Kari Henriksen, Fourth Vice President; and Ingrid Fiskaa, Fifth Vice President, took part.
Security and energy policy in Europe were among the items on the agenda. Nordic cooperation and the climate for political expression in the two nations were also discussed.
