President Zelensky to address the Storting
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed to address the Storting by videolink. Exactly when the appeal will take place will be announced at a later date.
“It is a great honour for me to announce that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has accepted our invitation to make an appeal to the Storting. Mr Zelensky is fighting an inspirational battle to save his country’s freedom and democracy,” said President of the Storting Masud Gharahkhani.
Contact was made with the Ukrainian embassy last week to find out whether Mr Zelensky would be able to address the Storting. The Storting has now been informed that it will be possible for such an appeal to take place in the near future.
The plan is for the appeal to be made in the Storting Chamber via videolink. President Zelensky has addressed several other national assemblies in this way recently.
Since the situation in Ukraine is unpredictable, it may be necessary to cancel the meeting with the Storting at short notice.
