The Storting extends the autumn session by an extra day
The Storting’s Presidium has made the decision to extend the autumn session by an extra day to ensure that the Fiscal Budget proceedings will be completed on time. The last sitting before Christmas will now take place on Saturday 19th December.
The Government coalition parties and the Progress Party reached a Budget settlement on the evening of Tuesday 1st December.
This was too late to allow the Storting to consider the twelve different standing committees’ budgets within the original time frame. Consequently, the Presidium decided to extend the deadlines for the submission of the committees’ Budget recommendations, and to change the dates for the debates in the Chamber. The last debates and the final consideration of the Fiscal Budget will now be on Saturday 19th December.
