Public gallery to be temporarily closed
The Storting’s Presidium has recommended to the Storting that the public gallery be temporarily closed as an infection control measure. The same decision was made in March when the COVID-19 pandemic first came to Norway.
The decision to close the public gallery must be adopted before each sitting on a day-by-day basis.
President of the Storting Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen made it clear that the Presidium is fully aware of how important it is that sittings are open to the public, and that a decision to close the public gallery must be adopted before each sitting.
“This is no easy decision to make, but right now the most important thing we can do is to reduce the risk of infection. I would encourage everybody to watch the sittings live on our website at Stortinget.no,” the President said.
