Oslo Culture Night at the Storting
The Storting is taking part in the Oslo Culture Night and will be open to the public on Friday 12 September at 6 p.m. New this year is a performance by the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in the Lagting Chamber.
Oslo Culture Night is an annual event by the City of Oslo and the Ministry of Culture. The aim, according to organisers is "to provide citizens and visitors with a taste of the city’s cultural diversity – an introduction to the variety and quality of Oslo's cultural life."
The Storting has taken part in the event every year, since the first Culture Night ten years ago, and is pleased to open its doors again to visitors on Friday from 6 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the parliament building and can also take the opportunity to experience the anniversary exhibition "The momentous year of 1814. Four documents that shaped Norway" in the historic hall. Guides will be available to answer questions and talk about the anniversary exhibition, the building, the art, the Storting’s history, responsibilities and working procedures. There will also be activities for children in the Central Hall.
The Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform in the Lagting Chamber from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please note that seats for the concert are limited to a maximum of 75 people on a first come first served basis.
President of the Storting Olemic Thommessen will attend the event from 7.30 p.m.
