One minute’s silence

The sitting of Tuesday 1st March opened with one minute’s silence for the victims of the war in Ukraine.

President of the Storting Masud Gharahkhani opened proceedings with the following words:

“Dear colleagues,
Falling bombs
Terrified children
People fleeing their homes
Innocent victims
Serious violations of international law
A people fighting for its freedom and democracy
There is war in Europe

As a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and with all those fighting for freedom and democracy in Russia, and to honour the victims of the war, the President would like to ask for one minute’s silence at the start of today’s sitting.”
