Ukrainian parliamentarians visit the Storting

“Nobody wants peace more than we do.” This was the Ukrainian MPs’ resounding message during a seminar in the Storting’s Lagting Chamber on Wednesday 5th March.

Six Ukrainian MPs have been visiting Norway from 4th to 6th March at the invitation of the Storting. The study visit forms part of the partnership agreement between the Storting and the Verkhovna Rada, and takes place only a few days after the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The current visit is the fourth made by the Ukrainian Parliament since the agreement was signed by Masud Gharahkhani, President of the Storting, and Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, in May 2023

“A united Storting stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine,” said Mr Gharahkhani when he opened the seminar with his Ukrainian colleagues in the Lagting Chamber on Wednesday.

The MPs discussed a broad range of issues, including the short- and long-term needs of Ukraine, recent international political developments, peace negotiations, and European integration.
