External review board to publish its report
The MPs’ financial schemes and arrangements review board is due to publish its report on Tuesday 31st January 2023. The external board, which was set up by the Storting’s Presidium, has examined all the financial schemes and arrangements currently available to MPs.
Therese Johnsen, the board’s chair, will present the report at 12.15 on Tuesday 31st January 2023. The presentation will be transmitted live on the Storting’s website, www.stortinget.no, via the channel N-202.
About the review board
The Storting’s Presidium appointed an external review board in 2021. Its remit was to scrutinize the rules, guidelines and practice underlying all the financial arrangements available to MPs. The review board’s mandate has not been to examine specific cases, but to look at how arrangements should be structured in the future.
The review board was appointed after a series of matters relating to the MPs financial arrangements came to light during the autumn of 2021. The review board was tasked with examining all the financial arrangements currently available to MPs, except for the MPs’ pension scheme, remuneration levels and parliamentary party group subsidies.
Sub-report
A sub-report was published in May 2022 which laid out the overriding principles for the Storting’s financial arrangements for MPs. The sub-report is available here (Norwegian only).
