The courtesy call is Eva Kristin Hansen’s first in her capacity as President of the Storting.

 

“The relationship between Germany and Norway is close and strong at all levels, including between our two parliaments,” she said.

 

Many of the Storting’s standing committees have visited the Bundestag, the German federal parliament. According to Ms Hansen, relations between Germany and Norway are marked by extensive contact and close friendship.

 

President Steinmeier is Germany’s head of state. He is visiting Norway in an official capacity for the first time as German President. His meeting with the President of the Storting is a courtesy call and comes at the beginning of his official visit to Norway.
