European Consultative Committee meeting on 28th April
Vidar Helgesen and Jan Tore Sanner will represent the Government for the meeting of 28th April.
The European Consultative Committee is the body in the Storting that is responsible for consultations with the Government on EU and EEA questions of current interest.
Mr Sanner, Minister of Local Government and Modernisation, will put the most important aspects of the EU’s digital single market strategy before the committee, as well as certain elements of Norway’s input on the strategy. He will also present a number of relevant elements from this strategy that he would like the European Consultative Committee’s views on.
Among the issues Mr Helgesen, Minister of EEA and EU Affairs, will inform about are the situation in the Mediterranean Sea, privacy regulations, and topics of current interest in the European Court of Justice.
The Business and Industry Committee, the Local Government and Public Administration Committee and the Transport and Communications Committee are all required to participate on 28th April. The Justice Committee, the Family and Cultural Affairs Committee and the Education, Research and Church Affairs Committee have also been given the option of attending.
Meetings of the European Consultative Committee are held behind closed doors unless otherwise decided. The minutes of such meetings are published afterwards with the exception of information that has been exempted from public access.
