The Storting commemorates 9th April 1940

The Storting has marked the 75th anniversary of 9th April 1940 by arranging a comprehensive programme, including a wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of C.J. Hambro, a seminar and an exhibition.

President of the Storting Olemic Thommessen took part in the ceremony and the laying of the wreath at the National Monument at Akershus Fortress. Afterwards, he laid a wreath and made a speech at the Hambro statue in Eidsvolls plass. The President also opened the day’s sitting in the Storting with a commemorative speech.

The Storting continued its commemoration of the day by opening an exhibition in Eidsvoll gallery. This was followed by a historical lecture about C. J. Hambro and Halvdan Koht, President of the Storting and Minister of Foreign Affairs respectively in April 1940

On Friday 10th April from 1500 to 1800 hrs there will be public guided tours of the Storting, during which it will be possible to view the exhibition about the Nazi occupation.
